Irene about herself:

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and have been practicing as a therapist for over 20 years. My professional experience is broad and includes, but is not limited to, working with individuals struggling with challenges such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, bereavement, low self-confidence, relationship issues, alternative lifestyles, gambling, divorce, parenting and step-parenting, ADHD, bullying and work stress.

My commitment is to work toward empowering children, adolescents and adults to promote the desired change(s) in their life. We face new challenges every day of our lives, at times these challenges emotionally paralyze us and leave us feeling hurt, helpless and maybe hopeless. Therapy can offer a new way to cope and heal.

My treatment methods are eclectic but personalized and include a Humanistic approach, which emphasizes the personal worth of the individual and helps with motivation toward better functioning and overcoming difficulties. I am also a strong proponent of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to teach individuals when it is appropriate to challenge negative thoughts and patterns and behaviors that are known to interfere and thus learn a healthier way of being. A Solution Focused Based method may also be applied during treatment to help individuals to construct a concrete vision of a preferred future for themselves.

I am a Pittsburgh native who enjoys the hometown spirit, diverse cultural experiences, arts, history and of course our Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates! My passions in life are many and in part include entertaining my family and friends, reading, gardening, concerts, plays and musicals, and last but not least, enjoying playtime with my 3 Labrador Retrievers and 2 cats.
